District: Koraput, Police Station: Kotpad
On the sacred occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, while the nation was remembering Bapu’s message of truth and non-violence, at Dhanpunji Check Post liquor was being sold openly in bulk.
👉 Due to the proximity of Nagarnar Steel Plant and the Chhattisgarh border, a large crowd of buyers from both Odisha and Chhattisgarh gathered here. Taking advantage, liquor traders sold alcohol at exorbitant prices.
⚠️ For example –
- Signature Quarter (MRP ₹280) was sold at ₹350.
- In all brand’s 100 rupees extra..
The liquor operator himself confessed –
“We have to pay a huge amount to Kotpad police station.”
This statement clearly reveals that the so-called protectors of law are themselves selling the law.
Police Negligence & Collusion
When the matter was reported at around 8 PM to SP Mr. Verma, instead of taking it seriously, he bluntly replied that the complainant was “talking nonsense” and cut the call.
Similarly, SDOP Parth only made a casual remark saying, “give me the point.”
This irresponsible attitude proves that law and order in Kotpad has collapsed.
Public Anger – When Protectors Become Predators!
The Kotpad police station is a living example of how –
- When the police turn from protectors into predators,
- When even on Gandhi Jayanti, liquor mafias operate under the shelter of police,
then the hope of public service turns into loot and corruption.
The Big Questions:
- Will action ever be taken against Kotpad police and the officials involved?
- Will the Odisha Government and higher authorities wake up to this irresponsible conduct?
- Or will this Gandhi Jayanti incident be conveniently brushed aside?
👉 The public demands answers!
